Why Spirit Level?
I have been fascinated by Spirit Levels ever since I was a child. Among all the rigid metal and wood of dad's workshop was an anomaly: a thing with a fluid and unpredictable element. When I was barely old enough to crawl I was staring at the bubble in the level and seeing how the slightest movement caused the bubble to move violently to one side.
As I grew older it was a useful tool for myself. It let me know if a walkway was even, or if there were any lumps within a long sheet of clay I wanted to turn into something hot-fired and straight. But the fascination was always there.
In my approach for life my artwork seeks to illuminate a common ground with all pathways--I exult in differences because it only illustrates the great common ground we all have: We are searching for ourselves in our search for truth...and or mysteries...and beauty.
Like a spirit level I want my artwork to reflect this commonality.
We are all spirit levels.
